Ok, I want to upgrade the dash unit. :thumbsup:I've got an older Kenwood CD. So I bought a wiring kit for the premium unit, looks right but I get no sound?:puke: Is there something I'm missing?:dunno

The only reason I brought it up is I have seen the unswitched side with a blown fuse. The radio would power up, but would not produce sound. This might not be your problem, but:dunno

from the stoopid question dept.....

...is the mute button on?

Can you disconnect and just touch the speaker wires together and hear the "titch"? Do this with the volume on the low side---it can be harmful to the speaker if done at higher volume!

If the clock and display are working the the memory wire is connected and supplying current...should be a yellow wire to constant/key off 12v....

Where are you not getting sound....just in CD mode or all the time?

Is there an amp some where?

You mean seperate from the in dash unit

Dwight, all you are doing is replacing the stocker unit ...right?

When you say "comes on fine"....do you hear the speakers twitch?

Re-check all wiring on that "premium" install kit.......main power and grounds are generally solid color wire, with the speakers showing tracers---white/colored stripes.....

My stock CD unit did not say premium on it but the kit I bought has the right plugs. it just gets no sound the 8pin speaker plug is in a round cable where the power is the old style tape around wires. I looked at it last night (could not see) the wires run to a box under the dash? I'll look more tonight..:puke:

Just saw this, Yep you have/had the "premium sound system". You have to bypass the factory amp to work with an aftermarket head unit.
