A word of caution with this.
I did a DMF swap on a 1995 powerstroke a while ago and the "starter ring" or "adapter plate" (whatever you want to call it) IS DIFFERENT!
Unlike the IDI, all 6 bell housing bolts shoot straight through the plate and root into the block. The IDI has the top two bell housing bolts offset higher above the block. In theory it could still be made to work if you can obtain that newer version of adapter plate.
This is only one truck I saw, so I don't know for sure if this is the rule or the exception. Can anyone else comment?
