This is a weird engine pic...never seen the filter on the driver side.

My best guess is that the engine was transplanted from a van. I seem to recall that the van engines have the fuel filter mounted on the opposite side.

Yep, that's the stock filter location for a van. IIRC the IH trucks had the filter in the same position; I'm not sur eif they used the same bracket or not.

So, I'm with Ken...the engine was probably transplanted from a van...
