New to Diesels and want to learn more

Hey guys..im somewhat new to this site i joined last weekend and have been reading through old build threads in this section. After a discussion with a buddy today i may have a line on a couple Ford F350 Cab and Chassis trucks. They were former Uhaul units. From what hes telling me they both have the non turbo IDI. His dad is selling them but isnt in that big of hurry so i might try to get one of them next spring and im gonna take the time from now to then to learn as much as i can about the IDI trucks. The plan is to install a box that is similar to the old Thriftside boxes they used on the old Jeep J series trucks. Here is a pic of the trucks in question

Basically converting a C and C into a pickup with a set back axle. The main tasks this truck will be used for is hauling my motorcycles and pulling my integra to the track.
