A neighbor of mine with an '05 6.0L told me there is a TBS out on the 6.0 motor. Apparently, the dealer installs some type of gadget that makes the truck run an extra 30 seconds or so after you shut it off. Supposedly this is to help clean the injectors and keep build up from occuring. He's the parts manager at a Lincoln dealer and the truck he drives is a company vehicle, a perk of the trade I guess. Anyway, he claims his fuel mileage went from 14.9 to a consistent 17.2 after the TBS mod was done. Anyone heard of this or had it done?

It's TSB 7-5-4

Doc, these two links should tell you more than you need to know about the Inductive Heating Strategy (TSB 7-5-4) that replaced and greatly improved on the "after engine shutdown buzz" strategy (TSB 06-22-3.) They "flash" the FICM with updated software that whoops "stiction." Read all about it.
