I thought about that but dont have the money for em right now. I plan on keepin the 6.9 around if somethin happens with the 7.3 then ill put head studs in the 6.9 and swap the turbo or put a cummins in it if I get a wild hair. Ill cross that bridge if it ever comes up. The truck is mostly a daily driver with some medium duty towin in mind for goin campin/huntin.

Nice looking truck, if you can find a 77 1/2-79 F350 you might be able to get a D60 front diff, that would give you a stronger diff and also better brakes.

I noticed the manual brakes and though whoa! that's not gonna work to well. Good luck, check out the hydroboost setups that are in various threads, IIRC there is one for your style truck too that was done. May be an option.

I managed to retrofit a tach from a bricknose into my bullnose dash - at least that was the beginning of me building an entirely new gauge panel for my truck (big time snow ball effect in my case). The tach can be separated from the rest of the gauges, and wiring is super simple. The tach sensor is just a magnetic switch (hall effect switch) that breaks ground to the tach. The internals of the tach translates the 53 teeth on the IP gear going by as 1 revolution of the engine.

Looking at mine, I dont think the stock ATS turbo setup will not fit without a body lift on the 70's ford. If that is a turbo K code 7.3 that is a great engine to do a high performance build later down the road. Screw putting a cummins in!

Already has a saginaw, NICE. I can help you with the hydro conversion, just did mine.

Ive been drivin the truck for a month with the manual brakes and it takes some gettin used to but it is possible to drive it and stop in a fairly good distance hydoboost will probly get put on sometime. Do you have a writeup thread on how you did it? As for the front axle thats gonna take a bit to find one fairly close that aint way overpriced. Not in a big hurry for it as I have that 72 im usin for parts that has a good front and rear axle if needed along with the 93s axles. I was told the motor was originally N/A and had the ATS turbo added later on.

Thanks for the photos. That's a very nice looking truck. I'd definately get some vaccum or hydroboost assisted brakes in that sucker.:D

Got the 7.3 out yesterday gonna try and get the 6.9 out today or at least ready to pull. Looked at the firewall differences and I think ill have plenty of room for the turbo but ill bend the cab flange down anyways to make sure. Found at least three or four leaking injectors on the 6.9 at work on friday so im wonderin if that could be part of the low power/ motor noise on this thing. Also the cast elbow that comes off the turbo for the down pipe is the type that has no clamp it just slides inside it was half way undone on the 93 is there any way to adapt a clamp to the thing?

Got the 6.9 out earlier today didnt give me anywhere near the trouble the 7.3 did even with leavin the front clip on the truck. I did break a bolt on the pass side exhaust manifold flange on the 7.3 so Ill try and get that out if not ill use a manifold off the 6.9. Ill pick up a clutch tomorrow mornin and hopefully have the thing up and runnin by the end of the week.

Does your donor truck have a tach in it? I'd take that and fit it into your dash. That would be the free way to do it. Or check the wrecking yards (later model is easier to find). I took a later tach and fit it into my Chevy dash. Easy to do and looks stock.
