Need new HVAC blower motor

Hello yet again...

I'm going through my truck in preparation to leave for L.A. on Thursday for the holidays. I had other parts of my HVAC system apart (see my other thread ), and decided to pull my blower motor to clean out leaves. Surprisingly, it was pretty well leaf-free...but I came across another issue.

I went to disconnect the plug to the blower motor, and part of the plastic plug came apart in my hand Upon further inspection, it looks like it was scorched and the wires were in pretty bad shape. I then turned the motor, and while it did turn, it felt like there was a lot more resistance than I'm used to seeing.

Conclusion: looks like the motor's on its way out, and it's been sucking up a lot more electricity than the plug's rated for, and the plug was uncomfortably close to melting...i.e. fire hazard Good thing I checked it when I did.

So, I need a new blower motor Are all motors equal, or is there anywhere in particular I should get it from? I'd like to get it today if at all possible.

NAPA is reasonable. One for the '94 era was $40 or so. Check with with Ford to see what they have for a price.

i've found out the hard way on Brian's truck that there may be a difference between the 84 and earlier versus the 85 and up models. I had Brian pull the blower out of the CC on the driveway and put it on his truck. the bolt holes and the outline does not match at all. You're welcome to drop by and check out the one out of the CC, its factory furd, so the copper in the windings is heavier than what you find in the late aftermarket.

I'm so short on time that I'm going to have to wait until I get back from L.A. before doing anything. I cleaned up the motor as much as I could (also sprayed some penetrating oil into the bearing; it helped with how much the blower was resisting hand-turning), and I'll try to keep use to a minimum...and I have a fire extinguisher in case the merde hits the fan...

I think I'll end up either grabbing Brian's or buying one new; have to weigh options and whatnot...
