need help

i have an '89 f-250 (5.8L/auto). it will idle fine but when i drive down the road it bogg's pretty bad when it gets to about 2k rpm. also, i can't seem to get a reading off the computer when i put a scanner on it.

i'm currently looking at the fuel pump(s) as the culprit.

any ideas or suggestions?

I would get a fuel pressure gauge on it and drive it. May be a failed pressure regulator, we used to replace them pretty regular.

Fuel filter is pretty cheap to throw in, and if it hasn't been done in 15K, your due anyway. Fuel pressure gauge will verify.

ok, i'm trying to change the pressure regulator, but i'm having a very hard time getting to it. is there a trick to reaching it?

the fuel filter has been recently changed; the only thing that's not fairly new, actually, is the pressure regulator.

They are all a little different, but sometimes it is easiest to lift the fuel rail.
