According to my diesel repair manuel, it 40-70 running for the IDI, and 40-80 for the later years.

If you see 40 running down the highway thats good 60-70 at speed should definitely be possible on a new motor if everything(not just the bearings etc) is right. They also moght have used a slightly different oil pump in the buses but I'm not sure. This system is high volume low pressure.

Nope, you are just fine, in fact better than fine I guess. According the the manuel, 70 is high. Things will depend on viscosity of your oil, maybe even the oil filter, etc.

As long as you are not low you should be fine, as you probably already know, the oil under pressures suspends the part in the oil, so that no metal to metal contact is ever made.

Just out of curiousity, are you running synthetic??

I run Rotella synthetic 15-30 (I bdlieve that is the weight) and a huge wix two (2) quart oil filter in mine.

The 2qt is the PSD filter. Ford # is FL1995, I wanna say the wix # 17342, but I can't remember for 100% certain. I thought the Rotella synthetic was 5W-40 or 0W-40 for synthetic blend, at anyt rate if its as good as their mineral based oils it should be more than adequate.

I had to do it the hard way. I notice that some of the Power Stroke filters were much bigger, and when I check 'em, I notice that the screw on threads, and gasket were the same, so I started to use them instead of the smaller ones for the IDI listing.
