Lift question

Are gasser f250 4x4 twin beam lift kits the same for a diesel ? Im at the salvage yard and there is a gas f250 complete 6inch lift and im having a hard time leaving it but im thinking they are different ...

???

I beleive the bracketry will be the same - it is the springs that will be different. The springs in a gasser lift may be a little bit "lighter" than the ones for a diesel lift. I know some lift manufacturers offer one kit for gassers with 300-I6, 302, 351 emgines and another kit for trucjks with gasser 460 and diesel. The only difference must be in the weight rating of the springs - heavier engine gets the kit with the heavier springs. All TTB bracketry should be the same between all F250's though.

as long as it has leaf springs you're in there. the springs will be too light. rough country probably has the cheapest available replacements.

Yea it was leaf sprung. I didnt think to see if it had a big block. I just always check if it's a diesel. I'll grab it on monday if it's still there. Parts don't last long at our yards haha.

So would the springs just wear out quickly or would they just immediately sag and not hold the weight ? If they will last a little while I'll grab the front springs too. Otherwise I'll leave them.

I'm guessing both. The 7.3 IDI is darned near twice the weight of the 460... within a hundred pounds or so of that anyway.

Dressed IdI = 1100 ish.
dressed efi 460 = 800 ish
Dressed 351 = 650 ish.

I have rough country lift on my bronco. It's made for a small block and I'm running a big block in it. It sits nice and straight.

If it is a small block one maybe you could find air assist shocks or something along those lines? Just a thought.

I have a set of small air bags I was going to use if it sagged but never had to use them.

I just shipped a u-haul engine on that rack if you seen it. Weighed weight was 936#, that was without starter, alt, a/c comp, vac pump, fan and flywheel/flexplate.

Can't remember, it's a half ton coil spring suspension

I picked up most of the lift today. I ran out of time and had to leave one spring pack. I'll grab it tomorrow. Im still not sure what engine it had but i know it was a gasser and it used the same motor mounts as the idi.. if that means anything .

That means 460. Small blocks use two bolts. BB and idi use 4 for motor mounts.

If it's a rough country lift you might be OK since their springs are bananas, seriously. people have complained about how hard they are left and right Like I said, the D50 kit is rough but I got the "sport" shocks in anticipation of doing a lot more fire road driving than I wound up with
