I may regret doing this but...........no more problems!!! Since my visit to Bean's the truck seem to be acting normal. No leaks, no weird stuff I can't explain, & even the old style TS chip isn't acting up as much in the cold weather. The truck sat for three days not plugged in in the parking lot where I keep the carhaulers while I was gone & came home to find that it fired right up. I still have the weird idle when moving at road speed but Bean is working on a new chip for me & thinks he may have solved that problem too. It's been a long road but it looks to be smoothing out. I guess it should by now, everything is new for god sakes.

Just in time for me to sell it & buy an 08LOL .

We'll see about the new truck deal. Some things have come up with work where I may need a dually sooner than 2010. Right now I hold steady with what I got.

I stole the avatar from BamaSixGun. He was ok with it because he's using a different one & he stole it from somewhere else!!!

I hope any business venture you may get into works out well for you. I can certainly understand why you are thinking new and not used at this point.

Honestly I havn't heard any problems out of the 6.4 other than the flaming exhaust particulate filter regen problem which was already taken care of. I'm keeping my eyes on the Powerstroke 6.4 and the Cummins 6.7 for a future purchase.

Leaving Sunday for orientation at Horizon Transport so mabey catch you on the road somewhere. Like you I generally try to stay east of a line drawn from Larado, TX to Chicago when I'm trucking.

Whatcha been doing..... SLEEPINGLOL ... Been talking about this fer a month now.

Racing and high fuel costs to run the dually keeps me broke:dunno

Want to make a few extra $$$, pay off a few things and bank a little cash. Would like to trade the TT for a nice fifth wheel toy hauler too but that ain't gonna happen unless I fund it with my own mama don't know money:hail :backoff

I chose Horizon because there is no forced dispatch and I only have to pull 1 load a month to stay current if I really get lazy. I can look at all loads available on my laptop and dispatch myself to run wherever I want and keep myself in lanes where reloads are available to cut down my deadhead.

Been a busy and expensive month:
  • put a 23k Putnam Firehawk II fifth wheel and gooseneck in the truck
  • new Extang R/T roll up tonneau cover
  • new Kobalt toolchest below the bed sides
  • took out the center console
  • put in the old CB
  • installed an in bed 7 pin trailer plug
  • Fed DOT inspection on truck
  • Fed DOT physical on me
  • Upgraded registration for 26k
  • non trucking liability ins from Brown & Brown
  • front and rear mudflaps.... TAZ "Back Off" front and rear:backoff
  • full length mudflap on the bumper with custom mount to clear the hitch
  • new Curt 10k round bar WD hitch
  • new cellphone, a Blackberry 8310 Curve
  • new Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with a core 2 duo 2.2 ghz processor, 4 Gb ddr667 dual channel ram and a Nvidia 256mb 8600M GT vidio card ..... Yep this was waaaaaaaaaay overkill:D
  • Much more I can't remember right now
Now I gotta pay for all this crap:puke:

don't they have some kind of deal for retired service men that will pay for a business like that? Cause a retired top here just bought 4 or 5 tow trucks and I mean BIG ONES and I was told the government paid for them????:dunno

Retired TOP has a nice fat retirement check and prolly very good credit.

No Uncle Sugar doesn't pay you for starting a business and there are no free small business grants that everybody talks about like those BS commercials try to get you to pay for their BS info.

But the VA Voc Rehab and a few other programs will help you go through the steps to secure a small business loan and teach you how to get in touch with the right people to get off to a good start..... Small business loans have to be paid back.

I was actually turned down for Vocational Rehabilitation because my doc wouldn't clear me to work and told to file for 100% individual unemployability because of the severity of my disabilities.

Youse gunna be like my old granny. At 90 years old, she is half-blind, deaf, about 4'8", and is still rearranging all the heavy furniture in her house at whim, against everybody's advice. She has more energy than a lot of us do.

I guess I've really been out of the loop lately. Did you rob a bank? That's alot of stuff you bought. You better be damn sure they give you a rig with a GOOD air seat. Are you driving on of their rigs or buying your own? As if you don't know but fuel is a killer right now so get in on of their rigs & let them pay fuel costs & make damn sure theres a surcharge. I spent $25000 in fuel alone last month & that doesn't include the super ******!!!!!

I'm an oper ownerator again, going hotshot driving my dually hauling travel trailers, fifth wheels, horse trailers, boats and stacked trailers for the largest RV transporter in the country.

You ain't gotta tell me about high fuel prices. I did a lot of math before deciding to go back on the road and can still make a nice profit even if I have a 50% deadhead avg going out and coming straight back without getting a re load. Fuel cost has put me out of business twice as an OO, once in 1990 when I had my '85 LTL 9000 (that only got 3.5 mpg) and again in 2000 when I had my 1st brand new '99 Pete 379 ex hood (that only got 5 mpg). I'll never get a "Big Rig" again.

Yep they have fuel surcharge based on the guberments published avg price (which of course you and I both know is always low).

This ain't my first Rodeo but hopefully the company does me right and it's my last.
