I've heard about the sparks flying out of the exhaust before, but never seen it with my eyes. That would have freaked me out if I didnt know it as well

How is it performing compared to the 86, since you have 4.10s now?

It's a little better with the 4.10 gears for towing. Although without a working tach right now, I don't know what the RPM difference is. My first IDI had 4.11 gears with a factory locker in the rear (That truck was NA and it pulled a semi and trailer weighed in at 79,800#). The 3.55 gears were nice for crusising RPMs, but I like having the boost sitting at 2psi when I'm doing 55 mph because with just a little more throttle, it's up to 5 psi and you're gone. This one with the turbo is a totally different experience that the NA 6.9 I had with the 4.11 gears. This truck will run up the hills without losing even 1 mph (and no excess smoke). I'm trying to find a tach sensor so I can check the RPM ranges and see just how much of a difference there is. At 55 mph with the 3.55 gears and 35" tires, the '86 ran about 2,000 RPMs. The truck I had with the 4.11 gears and 35" tires ran about 2,800 RPM's at 60 mph.

How come you weren't able to grab the sensor off the 86?
Also, running up the hills without losing mph, is that empty or loaded?

The wires at the sensor are shot in the '86. The tach just "bounces". Empty and slightly loaded. I pulled my trailer with a '74 Chevy 4x4 on the trailer last night. Pulling a decently steep hill for about 2 miles, I only lost 4 mph.
