Is an E4OD from an 89 F450 2wd a Direct Swap for a 4wd IDI?

The 89 f450 has 7.3 IDI. I have the trans for sale and someone looking to put it into a 90 with a 7.3 IDI 4x4.

Thanks

It should bolt up to the engine, but most likely wont bolt to a t-case. The output shafts are usually longer on 4wd versions of any transmission.

I think the F450 has a driveline brake mounted to the rear of it.

Dosen't make it impossible or anything though.

Yes, the 450 has the big drum brake assembly bolted to the back of the E4OD. I have heard several people say that this is simply a 4wd E4OD, and that the brake can be removed for a transfer case.

I was just looking to see if anyone knows for sure.

Thanks for the help.

F450 transmissions are 4wd trans. it is a direct bolt-in for the buyer.
do you still have the parking brake and what shape is it in?

Yep. Calvin is 100% correct. The 450 trans with the drum parking brake on it is indeed a 4x4 trans.

Parking brake works great, still on the truck right now. I have know these fetch a few bucks when in good shape. I will probably list some of these parts in the marketplace soon.
