I already advanced the pump. Now the truck wont even start.

That is amazing. My truck will start with the ip retarded by an entire tooth and advanced by and entire tooth. There must be something more going on. I had three different problems when I started out on my truck, now I'm down to one maybe!

You didnt take the IP gear cover off did you?

No matter what you do with the timning it should still start, just might not run right

turns out i have gas in the tank not diesel
