88 ford f350 diesel rollback

I have a 88 ford rollback that i'de like to get rid of.It has and aluminum 17 ft deck with a fully hydrolic wheel lift not stinger. It has no title and there are no issues with it. It was abandoned 6 yrs ago at my shop and unable to locate owner. i have an extra cab and other parts for this truck.Would be a good truck to switch beds on to something else. I was discussing these smog laws with another diesel guy...we were wondering how come they can change the rules like that. I thought any vehicle could only be made to meet the emissions laws that were applicable when they were made. So RDTs and some aftermarket mods may have to go, but can they really force you to meet standards not even thought of when your truck was made? Or is it different because these are commercially registered? Or is it really illegal but no one has the guts to challenge them on it? Would it hold up in court....under osmething like ex post facto? Just curious as it seems like a huge burden especially on small business and terribly unjust.

kali's justification is very simple. the amount of lives saved far outweighs the cost to business. they have also found out since the implemtation of the new rules, the scientific data was not 100% accurate. this still is not stopping the new rules.

That truck probably wouldn't have any problems with the smog laws in a few years. It's only a f350(so the ad says) which would mean it's under 14000 gvwr. But I heard something about cali outlawing some rollbacks as unsafe because the truck was too light duty.

I'm really highly suspicious of any and all of these studies about diesel exhaust causing premature deaths. I'm sure it wouldn't be good to be taking in a steady diet of soot or to live in an extremely polluted city but what do I know anyway?
