HELP.... Water in the fuel?

Ok last couple of days she cut off on me in the middle of the road. It would run ruff miss fire and shoot white smoke out the tail pipe. then die let it set for a few and it would fire right up. so is it water in the fuel? so i order a new separator filter and pick up the new fuel filter and change it out. the separator when i drained it looked like the last few times I've drained it, about 1/4 gunk and some water the rest clean fuel. then i check the fuel filter it was 1/3 water (clean and clear) and 2/3 fuel? whats up with that?
also on a side note i hooked my block heater back up and plugged it in and it makes a hissing sound?

yes i guess it did, i just don't remember it before. I was just thinking i'd see a glow out the window and the truck be up in smoke!

What about it?
Did it get in the filters all at once?
Compliments of the last place you fueled up?
Or has it taken months to get to this point?
Come on. Inquiring minds want to know.

I had the "bad load of fuel" gong show before.
The gas station said nobody else complained so
I must of got all that water somewhere else.

But if you change the filters and they fill
up with water again right away...at least
you know where it's coming from.

Dwight you just had some QC problems with your biodiesel and got some water and fuel tank vomit. Hopefully you can find the source of the contamination. Perhaps you should switch to the other tank and fill up with some fresh fuel. I've gotten cruddy stuff like that from bio and blends a few times. It sucks, but that's what your fuel filters and separators are for, the way I see it. Also shock the fuel system with some of your favorite commercial fuel additive. Power Service in the white bottle is what I normally use for B100, but you could probably use any of the big fuel additives. If worse comes to worst, you can pull the tank and clean the crud out of it if it keeps plugging filters. Please say its the front tank? Or an aux.?

Oh and the block heater is acting normally...that's what you want to hear from it. I'm going to plug mine in tomorrow morning and hope to hear the same

I was thinking the last fill up did it? it seems to be worse on the front tank but does it on the rear too. why would the water get by the separator so fast?

Is it getting by the sep...that's not good. How do you know...do you have H20 after the sep? If so I would dump that batch of fuel...its (potentially) gonna cost you more than its worth.

I guess the sep filter was toast i added a new one yesterday and seems ok for now i need to take the other filter off and check it for water. man i need a filter wrench. i hate to have to dump the tanks but i better go on and do it.
