I'm ready to put the heads back on this weekend and I know you have to go thru the many cycles of torquing the heads to breaking the studs and nuts. But my question is do you have to torque the studs into the block or just run them down to bottom?

Also what do you torque the rockers down to?

Thanks

We just did mine yesterday. Just run the studs down and snug them slightly with an allen key, which fits in the end of the stud, I think it was a 5/32. If you have the ARP studs, the directions should say, hand tighten only.
Use the lubricant that is supplied with the studs, on both ends.
The rocker torque is 20 ft lbs.

I should be firing mine up in the next couple of hours. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Also make sure that you chase the holes in the block before you put in the head studs.

The cover must come off the A/C evaporator and you will have to work with the evaporator a little bit to allow that back stud to drop into the block.

Thanks I'm going to put the heads on in the morning. Things are a little easier I have my engine out and on a stand. I had to re-due the trany anyway.
