Glue on 4wd shift cover

What the heck kind of goo did they use on the cover plate over the hole for the 4x4 shifter hole at the factory and is there any way to get that stuff to break loose?

I'm trying to get that stinking plate off to mount the shifter for my browine box and that thing will not budge Even went underneath with the air chisel with a blunt bit and beat away at it and just dented the heck out of it, but that goo isn't letting loose.

It's sort of like the urethane you glue the windshield in with... I usually have luck just driving a screwdriver in the gap and prying. It's usually a PITA to get, but, once you get a bit of it started the rest cooperates. Some heat may help loosen things up.

I took a old sawzall blade, ground the teeth off and sawzalled it while pulling up on it. be careful not to catch you hand with the dull blade, it will still rip you wide open. The guy I was with did it, 11 stiches from the back of ihis hand to the side of his thumb!
