glowshift gauges.

i was looking at ordering some glowshift gauges. but i am unsure of what port to put them in. and what adapter i may need from their site.

this is the gauge that i was wanting to get for the coolant temp

i was wondering if anyone else has used glowshift gauges and what i may need for install? i dont want to order just the gauge and then find out i need to get a thread adapter.

yeah but dont i want to put the sender in the block for a temp reading rather than after the tstat in the hose? would that not be less accurate?

would i be able to take the wires going to the OEM temp gauge in the cluster and splice them off to an aftermarket gauge?

NO.

Get the gauge, it has a 1/8 npt sender, the hole in the block is 3/8 npt or 1/2 npt, depending on where you put it. Hardware store for the pipe bushing.

I ended up putting the new sender in the port in the head on the drivers side more towards the firewall. I bought a 9/16" double square socket from sears to get the plug out it was really in there. I like that location because I can keep my idiot light. I sure like my idiot lights. I wonder what that says about me?

thats what i thought. you can get a more accurate reading in the block. what would be the difference in temperature between a plug at the front of the block and the back of the block? probably about 5-10 degrees?

I don't know, I guess it depends who you talk to. When I had my aftermarket gauge in the temp light spot I was running about 219, and in the new spot I'm running about 200-210. While I was changing locations, I also put in a new thermostat from Ford, so it is hard to say. Too many variables.

any gage i have bought before had a selection of bushings to use included. if not i believe any hardware store should be able to hook you up with a simple brass bushing for a couple of bucks like Russ mentioned.

Perfect would be on the stat for all conditions, not gonna happen. Mine runs from 180 empty to 235 fully loaded, usually just cruising it sits near 200.
