Fuel Hose

does anybody know where i can get some fuel hose to run from the hard line on the fram to the lift pump?

i got some from orileys the other day but it kinks as soon as i try to get any bend out of it.

i like the factory hose b/c it retains it's shape no matter how you bend it.

I ordered fuel hose from Ryder fleet, but I think that isn't what You are looking for. There was also a seller on ebay selling braided plastic line for biodiesel that You could easily use on a regular truck, it is stiff and won't kink easy plus You can use same fitting You would use for high pressure hoses.

ill have to go see if i still have the box that the roll of fuel hose i use came in. its blue on the outside with a cloth outside, then a nice thick rubber inner thats got thread running through it. you can kink the stuff. its actually what ima replace all my fuel lines with other than my returns

Go to your local International dealer and ask for fuel hose, good stuff and its like 90 cents a foot. if no international dealer near you I bet any other big truck dealer is similar

are you sure you got fuel hose and not vacuum hose? even the fuel hose from any chain auto store should not readily kink.

If you're near a marine supplies store, ask for the A1 fuel hose. It's pretty heavy walled, fire resistant (mostly due to wall thickness)and doesn't kink readily. The problems is, some of us cheap buggers won't pay the extra for it, although I did. It'll be 2-3X's the cost of auto parts stuff.

You will also have to get a longer fitting to give better clearance at the fuel filter. The FF supports make the fit too tight with this hose.

You could always keep the factory steel line in place at the filter, but will have to modify the fuel pump end to fit the hose. This will make for a real short piece of hose between steel lines at the engine, but, it will be an extra hour of quick fabbing the ends and r/r the line to do it. It's easier just to replace the FF fitting and eliminate the steel line to the mechanical pump.

Edit: Ooops... I'm assuming a rail install v. a fender mount too. Fender mount dictates removal of FF steel line altogether.

You need Gates or Goodyear 3/8 fuel hose. Other off shore stuff is not worth trying.

International dealer has Dayco man thats good stuff plus its basically free less then a dollar a foot!

Are there any other big truck or equipment dealers? Cat? Freightliner? Western star? Cummins? Sterling? Im sure any of them have quality hose they dont have time to mess around with junk

not that i know of. there is a auto store that is supposed to have the goodyear stuff that i linked to. they are right near my school. i am going to stop by there later today.
