Front window leak.

Got in the truck today and the seats felt wet. Checked the driver side carpet and it was dry.
Went over to the passenger side and the carpet was wet. It did not smell or look like it was coolant.
I've not moved the truck in just over a week, but it’s been raining every day.

I found a rust spot in the middle of the cab right above the window. Had my daughter get the water hose and wet it all down while I was inside, and sure enough it's leaking.
I pulled the chrome window liner off and it was not a nice sight.

So just one more thing I have to fix. I hope this truck is worth it in the end.

Mobile is back on track to get 'rainiest city in contiguous 48' this year, seriously. I wish we could get it to the other folks in this country who actually need it...

Yea I tried a few pics but they look like crap and they did not show much detail

I'm still not sure if it's rusted out or a crappy seal on the window gasket
I hope to have more time to look at it tomorrow

Mine leaks there too, mines from a bad seal... Got most of the trim off but no clue how to get it back on "properly"

Yea, there are some metel clips, or in my case a rust spot that was a metel clip.

I'll try and take a few pic's tonight and post them.

were U able to get it to seal?

The driver door on my old '84 used to leak, but after I replaced the hinge pins and weatherstripping it stopped. And now that I think about it, that '84 had a lot of rust above the door too, but the problem was actually a combo of weatherstipping gaps and bad fitment caused by worn-out hinge pins. bj58 does the door sag or can you wiggle it up and down from the handle-side when open? If so, new pins are cheap and easy to do, might not be the whole problem but it would help.

And in general, if your doors don't close well, before you mess with the mega-torqued striker pin for the latch, check your hinge pins.

Not sure yet, passed the garden hose test haha. Mine was a slow leak anyway. Thinkimg about glueing the trim back on cause these clips are nasty

here are a few pic's what do u guys think would be the best way to repair this.
rust1 and rust2 are of top windsheild and cab.
drip edge is just that the passanger side drip edge above the door, it's just above the rain gutter. someone before me "fixed" the drip edge with some silicon.

I would clean the whole area up until there was no more rust, then weld where needed, then paint, then silicon. Glass might not like the heat from a welder so I would consider doing that along the whole ridge, maybe even the whole thing if its representative of the rust and pop the windshield. Never had to do it though so its just my wild guess.

Rhkcommander thats what I was thinking also it does not have to be pretty, because the crome band would hide the weld. I've pulled a windshield befor it is a big pain in the A--.
I'm going to have and pull the head liner out so it does not melt from the heat.
I might chace the window. just hit it with the welder for 3sec then let it cool. takes some time but i do not want to pull the windsheild.
and if I pull it I would have to pay someone to put it back in.

still up for any other ideas.

That does look kinda nasty. I can't give you much advice on repairing the holes but I just remembered I have a Lund sunvisor (non-lit) hanging out in the laundry room...it is yours if you want it, just PM. It would cover up a weld or patch pretty well if you don't want to make it cosmetically perfect, but won't stop a leak by itself.

What non-lit? if you are going to dress things up U have to go all out.

Let me see how my patch job goes, I might take U up on that.
does it cover teh cab lights on top? and how does it mount?
I've seen them before but never up close.
