Hey guys,
A friend of mine that I camp with and ****, is thinking on buying
a diesel PU and getting out of his Dakota.
He's looking at a 08/93 F250 4x4 auto loaded.
What he wants to know is, will he be happy?
And should he be looking for a different year?
I think he likes this one in paticular because it
can end up in his driveway for very little cash out of pocket.
Some dead relative didn't know how to take it with them, I guess ;)

Anyways, I'm no help to him at all, other than I know it'll haul his trailer.

A 1993 is an IDI, there is nothing wrong with them at all, very good low RPM pullers. They arent going to pump out the HP like the PSD will, if he is wanting a PSD he has to look at the later half of the 94 model year (all three diesels were available in 94, the IDI, Turbo IDI and PSD) so he has to be sure what he is looking at. But from 95 on they were all PSD's. The PSD only came in a manual tranny in 94, so if he is looking at an auto it is surely an IDI in the 94model year.

Does it have a bunch of injector lines on the top of the motor runing to a injection pump? If it does its the IDI. I got the 6.9L IDI and i am very happy with her 350,000 Km and not many problems. Im switching to a PSD just becuase it needs to much work for me to do on it while still going to school.

you need to find out if the sca's have been maintained--if not--somewhere down the line it may or will cavitate--leading to an expensive engine repair---then he will hate fiords for sure--when i bought mine--no known history--immediately put in fw16--have had no problems--just lucky????

Ok man, you got me stumped here too.
I guess it shows how little I know about Ford trucks eh?
Ken sure seems to like that truck though:)
I can picture it in his driveway already.

I think that it is an IDI or turbo IDI, I was told that the powerstroke wasn't available until '94

Yup:) Turbo, no intercooler, and not P/stroke.
Other than that, I don't know much about it.

I never have a camera with me:(
A couple of points and clicks and,
"it looks like this pic" :D :D

So is this something he can fall in love with?
I want to be sure he's happy all around.
If he owed me money, I could care less.
But lucky for me, he's a good friend

They're just buying thier first house and I
don't think he'll need any extra headaches.

He's already got a wife and young son LOL
