Yes I have seen that one also. That is not a helm reproduction? I was looking on buying that or the ford turbo idi supplement manual. I was just wondering how much info is in the power train / emissions book on the diesel. The table of contents looks to be mostly about gassers but there are diesel sections also.

I have the '86 factory service manual, it comes in 3 volumes and it has a lot of useful info. It covers all the F series F150-350, so much more than just our trucks. The most useful part of the service manual in regards to our trucks is the diesel engine supplement that was mentioned. In my manual, this is a subsection. There are pdfs for the 6.9l diesel supplement out there on thedieselfiles.com, but I don't think they have a copy of the 7.3l one. The thing to realize about the service manual is that anything shared among the F series such as non-diesel specific powertrain components, isn't going to be in the diesel supplement. The diesel engine supplement is almost entirely related to the engine itself. If you need diagnose something such as fuel system problems with the tanks or FSV, that section isn't located in the diesel supplement part of the manual. Depending on your budget and what you need, it might be worth it just to buy the entire manual from Helms.

I need to pick up the 6.9 supplement. Also, WHY DON'T THEY INCLUDE THE WIRING DIAGRAMS?!!!!! It's infuriating. Those are DEFINITELY getting purchased later this month. Seriously, the biggest thing I bought my manuals for was electrical, and now I have to buy the diagrams separately.

Some of the pdf's mentioned above on the dieselfiles link are junk. It doesn't print right due to being corrupted. Think it was file 4? In the series. You'll know it when you open it up and get a error. Still shows some, but a page is corrupt

Powertrain controls would probably be useful for a E4OD rig, doubt it would help much otherwise for a diesel. I have an emissions control manual (86??) and it's pretty much useless. Bit of a blurb about diesel emissions, but nothing useful. Don't waste your money.
The best source I've found for wiring is the Haynes f-series manual - they have actually very good diagrams. I have an actual Ford diagram book for the 85 and it's very hard to read.... lots of info, but not easy to use at all.

I have one in my Haynes and one in my chiton and neither have enough on them for me. I know that the big diagram sheet is convoluted but I really need it for certain systems and wire colors.

From what I remember (the manual is packed up somewhere at the moment), the Ford diagrams don't have anything the Haynes ones do other than connector numbers and circuits spread out more. The Haynes is smaller type, true, but I find easier than sorting through the Ford book. When I got the Ford book I thought it would be really helpful, but after looking through it once or twice I just stuck it on the shelf and used the Haynes book.
What exactly are you looking for? I can probably send you pictures from my book in a few weeks if you're looking for 85 info. Someday I want to scan it and post somewhere for the ob folks, but haven't gotten that far yet....

Okay thanks. Thats what I wanted to know. I have the 1987 power train, body chasis , wiring diagrams and the specification books 1and 2 if anyone need to I can scan and e mail you the appropriate pages. I ordered 1993 cd, idi turbo book, and wiring diagrams so when I get them I can scan and e mail from them as well.
