driving my idi today and just running fine then all it wants it started running rough sounded like when you first fire one up on a cold morning, pulled over opened the hood and there was fuel leaking out of the top of the injector line on top of the injector itself. the line was on top of the injector crooked and i told my dumba** uncle that it was crooked when we put a pump on it the other day and he said it was tight and on there good so i said alright, so i drove the ford back home and it was blowing way to much black smoke the pump had never even been fooled with and it didnt have no power watsoever i couldnt even put it in 1st gear and let it out it would stall and quit so i had to give it a lil fuel just to move, when i got home i took off the injector line and i found shavings of metal in there so i i put the injector line on right and it wasnt leaking is the injector stopped up?thanks

Pull the dipstick and see if it smells like diesel. You may have diluted the oil in the crankcase. If the oil smell like diesel don't start the truck but drain the oil and put new oil in as well as change the oil filter. When that is done start it up and hope for the best.

If there was metal in the injector I would wager that its not just stopped up, its toast. Kinda hard to tell from the way your phone picks up the sound, but it sounds like its only running on 5 or 6 cylinders. Maybe there's problems with others as well. I have deliberately run mine on 4 cylinders by cracking injector lines, and it sounded kinda like that.

Smoke could be injectors sticking open and leaking fuel, but usually that is white? How did you time it? When I first put my pump on it was way advanced and blew black smoke kinda like that. I backed it off and it went away.

So was it a reman pump with old injectors or an old pump with old injectors?....I put a reman 7.3 pump on my 6.9 and it took less than a minute to expose 2 bad injectors...They were not closing completely and this was letting the combustion flame go up inside them....They turned blue from the heat in no time....New injectors fixed it.
