Well I got a new problem. Got home from work today and I lost power to almost everything in the truck. This is what works. I have head lights but no running lights front or rear. No turn signals but the brake lights work. The interior door lights work but nothing on the dash and the cargo light works. The rest of the truck is dead. I am wondering if my ignition bit the dust. How do I go about checking that?

Ignition or a fusable link has blown/corroded. If my memory is right the heavy yellow wire feeds everything at the ignition switch. Usually there are 2 feeds to the switch....I would check your connection at the fuse box on the side where the heavy wire bolts on on and at the fender solenoid where it gets power.

Put a new ignition cylinder in and that did nothing. Pulled the dash apart and it looks like someone has been into the wiring. I found a thick yellow wire with a fuse in it. The fuse is good. There is also a thick red wire. I am guessing these are 12 gauge. Ran out of light so haven't been able to track much down. Where is the solonoid on the fender and what wires go to it?

The fender mounted starter relay on the pass side, this is where the fuse box gets power from.

Yea I found a wiring diagram and chased all that down. Not sure what I did cause I didn't really do anything but it works now. I am leaning towards a loose ground somewhere. I was under the hood messing with wires and the glow plug controller started clicking. Fired right up and everything works. I did find some stuff under the dash that has been hacked and goes nowhere so I need to figure that out sometime. Not sure if it was for trailer brakes or what.
