Dual 4" Diameter Stacks

Hey guys, so I want to put dual 4" diameter straight top stacks on my truck, they will be chrome and come just above the top of my cab with rain caps on em. I've been searching around for a place to find parts but am having no luck. I want to make it so the cylinder banks have their own stack. Meaning the left 4 will have a stack, same with the right 4. Do any of you guys know where I can find all the part I would need. Also, would any of you recommend a muffler for each as well? My truck is non-turbo so I'm guessing yes. Thanks!

If you want to run true duals then i would just cut the Y pipe and work with it. Or just have a muffler shop fab up the pipes. Shouldn't be any trouble for them. For the stacks I would just search online or go truck shop. As cool as the rain caps are, i doubt your engine will lift them much going down the road, just not enough air movement. Also fill out your sig with info on your truck and be a bit more specific on what "Parts" you are looking for.

Now for my opinion.... I would advise against the stacks. Most the time they dont look real nice. Also you can't here the radio or talk on the phone with them right behind you. When i bought my truck it had stacks and i only kept them for a year. Between the noise and constantly cleaning soot off the truck it just annoyed me. I now got a nasty hacked up hole in my bed from them too.

Yeah, that's a good point ya got about the noise, that was my biggest concern. I'm gonna do more research and see, the rain caps are only for rain cause here in Washington it's always rainin, ya think the driving air flow would restrict the caps/exhaust flow to much? I saw a truck roughly the same as mine with the idea I have and it looked pretty darn nice. As long as I had mufflers on each side I think the noise wouldn't be to bad. The tailpipe currently is darn near silent, suppose thats different than while driving down the road.

My brother got his dual 4" kit from grand rock. I can get pics if you want.

I would stick with single exhaust up to the stacks. Less pipe to buy. Less holes to cut in the bed. And the rain problem can be solved by drilling a hole in the pipe at the lowest point. Or you can just use coffee cans. Lol

Yeah, I just thought of that. I'm gonna try with the flaps and if that does turn out to be an issue I can just take them off and drill the small holes. Yeah, the single to double is easy, but true dual is... amazing.

I just don't think it'd sound good on one of these idi's. But who knows.

I think you could add a little weight to the counter weight on the flapper.

Yeah, I'm not to worried about the flapper, I'm thinkin 3.5" or 4" stacks will be okay pressure wise. I am also thinking about adding a muffler on each side with half the specs as the current one, that should keep the noise down. But, i have to wonder if it will also slow the pressure..... Like I said, worst case I take the flaps off ha.

Just use the banks straight through mufflers. I have 2 that definitely aren't being used.
One from my 94 psd, one from a 93 7.3 with banks turbo.

Correct. Basically a glasspack. Like a cherrybomb, just bigger.

My 94 had that and a cat. Went from quiet to loud and proud.

Yeah, I don't know... Haha, I'm kinda lost on this... With the left side there isn't much room because of the 4x4 shaft... The kit is much easier, but I like true dual exhaust. I mean, it all boils down to the noise, I youtubed some vids of trucks like mine with no muffler and I definitly dont want that behind my head all the time I'll get it figured out. Just gotta get some measurements and what not.

I love the noise, I honestly thought my straight piped 86 was too quiet. At idle the engine rattle was louder than the tailpipe and it was the same way cruising. I do imagine you would notice it more in a standard cab truck with stacks though, so to each his own. When I had my 85 with a 460 I ran true duals with stacks(straight piped of course) on the outsides of the frame. The pipes crossed under the frame just behind the rear front spring shackle. The stacks bolted into the bed and the pipes connected to the bottom of the stacks with a header style flange.
