Drive shaft vibration

I noticed (after I replaced the old U joints) some for some time that the tranns shifter would shack a bit on occasions while driving on the highway loaded or unloaded, I thought that would go away after I did new U joints but seems like it was a bit worst but only on few occasions. Today I was re-greasing every fitting on the truck and graved the drive shaft to see if it would move, to My surprise it did like if it where loosened so I checked the straps and they are tight now it seems like one side of the U joint is not really tight, like if it needs one of those washer/clips but I don't think is supossed to have one there since that is the side where You put the C clamps to hold the U joint to the back of the tranny. The others seem to be fine but the one behind the transmission has play in it, I did re-grease it and was tight again but if You shake it a bit it will do it again. Are this the engine mounts causing this things to happen? I have a solid fly wheel that shakes more than I like it but maybe it is the engine mounts not supporting the engine vibrations enough. Could this be timing causing this vibration?

After my tranny was rebuilt last year I noticed a severe driveshaft vibration above 65 mph. Had my driveshaft inspected. The slip yolk was stuck, the u-joints were bad AND the driveshaft needed to be professionally rebalanced. Having it rebalanced was money well spent.

EZ if you can see movement in the u-joint somethings wrong with the u-joint either your straps are stretched or maybe you got the wrong ujoint by mistake

That is what I'm thinking but how would I know now? The other two U joints are fine, I did all of them the same day it is the one behind the tranny that is giving Me trouble. I don't know if a dealer part (if there is one) would fix this, or is it the jocke behind the tranny?

Sounds like he got one of them there hybrid joints.
Gotta be carefull on em cause they'll be the same end cap length but the caps will be a different diameter.

Snag that part number off the box EZ and have them relook up the info for those joints.
IIRC all the ujoints should be the same measurements all the way back.

Yep, change it before it wears the tranny ouput shaft bearing.

Does anyone have the motorcraft part #? maybe the Moog part #? They sold Me the universal U joints saying they where all the same at napa.
Btw it is about 1/16 play on the strap side of the U joint but I would think it must be tighter than that.

yes EZ the straps can wear or stretch from bad u-joints or from being loose. 331's are what I needed but I went thru 3 sets of the napa precisions now I'm running autozones bruteforce cheaper and so far they have lasted as long

The only problem I had with Brute Force is they use to be NON Greasable. They are Lifetime garrenteed.
I would spend the few $ on straps anyway along with A greasable Joint.

The straps came with the U joints (new) but I can seethe U joint cap moving back and forward. What are this 331's (U joints?) and where can I get it? I need the truck running and don't feel good using it like this.
