Yes but my question is, how does he know it is an overdrive and not set up as an underdrive,.? Is there a way of telling without actually trying it?

I am temped to buy it myself since it is only 1 and 1/2 hour drive from me....

My guess would be to call Jim at US Gear, and have him run the ID Number.

I thought you could reset an underdrive as an OD or vice versa. I still don't know how to tell.

You have to have a different input gear/ input shaft, maybe more... I thing the four planet gears and their shafts are common between the two.

That is the older Doug Nash unit, its a good unit, but you probably won't find any internal gears etc. for it. US Gear won't have the parts to change from OD to UD. There were some design changes when they went to the US Gear version. Just enough that you can't swap internal parts between the USG and Doug Nash. I used to have the Doug Nash. I have a few parts, Motor, and maybe some electrical parts.
