Donor Truck Questions?

I've located a 1990 F250 4x4 Diesel I'm assuming 7.3 that looks to be a parts truck. I have an 85 with 6.9 2wd. My questions are.
1. Will the tach and tach sensor from donor fit my truck without modification, the tach is on the far right of the insturment cluster in the 90 model and mine is in the middle. My truck has the plug next to the oil fill, I'm assuming for tach sensor.
2. The truck has a manual transmission, again assuming it's a ZF 5 speed. Would this transmission work for my truck or is there a difference in the 4x4 vs. 2 wheel drive model.

I didn't get to look very closely at the truck just what I could see through the window and from underneath. The pedal assembly (clutch and brake) are gone. And the drive shaft is laying in the bed. Any other thoughts of what I should try and talk the owner out of, that would be beneficial to have around. May inquire about the motor and transmission as a unit.

My truck does not have a tach right now. Just to clarify, the opening for a tach is in the middle on mine.

Tach will NOT work

but I have a tach and the printed circuit for one if you are interested


The 4wd 5 speed will Not work in place of the 2wd trans you have

I modified one from a 88 to fit in the other 85 that I had. Had to do a little hacking on the cluster but it turned out pretty good and worked perfect.

I would not let the 2wd/4wd thing scare you. I know it sounds weird, but I would put the 4x4 transfer case/tranny assembly in your 2wd and use it. The low range is handy to have sometimes, especially with the high speed reverse the diesel zf has.
