Not for sure, but do I hear a little more clatter and maybe even a intake (sucking) noise on the drivers side?

I have listened to it about 4 times now and it still sounds good. I would agree with others maybe a little clattery.

Not sure of the noise by the intake pipe - maybe just you moving? The motor itself sounds 100% better than mine does. To me (and *** do I know) the clatter sounds perfect. I know on my dually after Mel timed it (way retarded) it had a nice clatter to it.

Thanks for the input guys. I didn't want to taint the pool right away so a little background. Swapped steering box. Took it for a test drive. Got it fully warmed up and I got on it in third. Then fourth. Seemed okay. Actually saw 13-14 psi. Go down the road turn around. Stepped on it in second. Rpms come up and suddenly like a whoosh sound and motor changes pitch and I hear a knock I hadn't really heard before. Motor acted like it had a dead hole for a couple seconds then smoothed out. It's the second time it's done the dead whole thing to me in similar scenarios. No noise after the first time. It wasn't making much boost in second gear maybe 2-3 psi.

I hear a tap that seems to be coming from the drivers side.

It wasn't reved that high. Right around 3k. I wouldn't think it floated the valves. It was supposed to get brand new comp 810's. I bought and sent them but I didn't really have any way of knowing. My concern is a broken valve spring which might lead to a bent valve.

Maybe I'm just being really paranoid but I don't want to be half way to KY with a dead hole. Joe knows all about that.

so your making some decent boost now. are the EGTs any better?

if it really seems like a broken valve spring it doesn't take much time to take a valve cover off. I would highly doubt that happened. maybe drive it some more and see what happens.

unfortunately there isn't much time for shooting the **** and eating apple pie.LOL

Man you said a mouth full there. Just don't get them backwards.

I am planning on taking it on a trip this weekend across the mountains empty. I think I'm pulling the bed tonight to at least get the rear tank squared away. I may not be able to sort the front tank issue unless it's obvious what's wrong.

I have to be on the road bright and early in the morning with or without it but I was hoping to use that opportunity for some extra miles.

Things are looking real iffy for the rally at this point. Not throwing in the towel yet but I'm making sure I know where it's at.

Shouldn't boost much in the lower gears, so low boost numbers in 2nd is normal. This woosh sound? Was it like escaping air kind of sound? What was you boost doing when it happened?

I agree with you putting miles on it. The more the better. Using it will bring issue to the surface that won't be obvious with it sitting parked. Intermittent miss/knock makes me think injector. I've had two die on my F250 this past year (Lord knows how many miles where on them) and rig ran rough, smoked more, and had a knock.

Broken valve train parts won't be intermittent.

The tapping doesn't seem intermittent. I don't know. Maybe I'm just hyper paranoid. I'll see what I can find tonight. At least it seems to be the drivers side so I could pull the valve cover without tearing down the front of the engine.

Any crazy hot injector line/lines. I agree, there is a slight tick on the drivers side on the video. Pretty hard to hear on the video, I'm sure is more noticeable under the hood.

It's actually more noticeable in the cab than anywhere else. I didn't feel the lines. The injectors are brand new from Russ.
