I don't believe there is any differance in the frames. Its the spring package thats differant and the brakes being wider in the backs. I know the 1 ton dually has 3 1/2 inch wide shoes where the 1 ton single rear wheel has the 3 inch shoes in back. The front pads I think are the same srw and dually. Now the F150 wheels, brakes and frames are differant but they will handle the idi easily in the engine bay. Upgradeing the axles to the 8 lug setup is a good idea because of the better brakes..

Yup, like stated above, just the badge on the fenders.

I swapped so many parts between F350 and F250 frames it is a little ridiculous.

I concur.

Between an F250HD (the HD is an important distinction) and an F350 regular cab (SRW), the frames are the same; 4.33 cubic inch Section Modulus and 36,000 psi steel. That is verified in all the Ford Data Books in my collection. The Supercabs have a beefier frame, 4.94 cu.in. Section Modulus but it's still the same between to two weight classes. Rear springs are the difference, with the F250HD having 5922# rear springs and the F350 with 7833# units. Up front... completely different, as most of you know, but easily swappable (either to a D50TTB or a D60). Rear axle for the SRW is the same too, at least after the Sterling came along. The "regular" F250 (not available with diesel and only a 6600# GVW) had a lighter frame, with only a 3.98 cu.in. Section Modulus and even lighter springs...plus the semi-float axle.

The DRW trucks had a much beefier frame with a different configuration. They had a 7.04 cu.in. Section Modulus on the SWB (136.8") and 8.37 cu. in. on the LWB (160")

The '86 book I have in front of me now shows the same 12x3" rear brakes on all the trucks, SRW or DRW, but the wheel cylinders are larger on the DRW (1.125 vs 1.0-in.). I didn't look at any other years.

An interesting tidbit is listed, showing a F250 (non-HD) with the same frame as the HD IF you ordered the HD front suspension package (D50TTB+heavier springs) which upped the front axle rating from 3850# to 4600#.

Has anyone seen a bullnose F250 with a D50TTB (which would also have been the HD front axle package)? I never have, though I didn't know it was available until about 10 years ago.

Any differences between a 1990 F350 or Bronco frame?

Hey, I thought you were joking! And I thought I'd joke back but......goooooooolly.... surprise, surprise (to me anyway).... they are pretty close! I never took the time to compare them before. Interesting.

I don't have a '90 book, but an '88 book shows the following:

F350 Reg Cab: Max Siderail Dimension= 7.05x2.21x.202, Sec. Mod.= 4.33, Yield Strength= 36,000

Bronco: Max Siderail Dimension= 7.01x2.12x.202, Sec.Mod.= 4.27, Yield Strength= 36,000

So, yeah they are similar and the Bronco, being short, will be stiffer. Hmmm, maybe a diesel in a Bronco isn't such a strain after all. Ans F150 frames are really wimpy compared to both the Bronco or the F250HD/F350.

Don't have '89-95 books. Have all the Bullnose books, '80-86 and '96-'08.

I could have sworn that the last bronco I looked under had the "accordion" frame behind the front bumper, and no f-350 I've seen has that.

My '84 F-250 SC has a Dana 50 TTB. I was under the impression that all extended-cab F-250HD's had the Dana 50 TTB, while early F-250 regular cabs had Dana 44HD's and later ones had Dana 50's.

FWIW there have been a few people on here who had early '85 or older F-350's that had Dana 50 TTB axles.

I could be wrong, but I've always been under the impression that the "accordion" frame was an OBS truck thing?

Warden: Yes, you are correct. The F250HD SC had the D50TTB, regualr cabs had the D44TTB (unless your ordered the HD front axle). AFAIK, ALL F350s prior to the intro of the D60 in '85 had the D50TTB.

I was just wondering if anyone had ever seen a F250HD bullnose with a D50TTB... verified from the factory.

I assume you are asking if anyone has seen a regular cab bullnose with a d50, if that is the question, then no, I can't recall any. But as Warden stated, yes the sc's did have d50's.
