Picked up a 92 dodge as a parts truck, for a while I need to keep the motor for a spare for my sweeper but that hasnt stopped me from thinking...
I dont have a big interest in swaping my psd, I dont think that would do that much for me, however I have 98 tahoe that I really like but it is horrible on gas (11-13mpg) Ive seen cummins motors in '88 and newer chevs a few times but always 3/4 ton or heavier, never in a half ton.

My questions: would the half ton torsion bar front end support the cummins?
would I be able to keep the A/C and cruise?
would the light duty rear end hold up? I could get the heavier 1/2 ton rear end that they use in pickups, will that handle the torque?

Im not worried about the trans I think I have better options using the 47RE vs. the 4l60e or whatever it is.

My other option for this motor is save it for a boat project, there is lots of big block inboard gas powered boats that arent very practical to run and a cummins could make a 28-30 footer as economical as a 22 footer to run, I know the boat option sounds nuty but, I boat over 350 hrs/yr.
