Cost of an IH diesel

In the summer i drove and maintained that IH in my sig for my neighbor for a summer job. I hauled a backhoe with it. That truck was my baby

He moved around christmas and he is pretty much broke. (I barley got paid as it was but hey driving that truck was fun)

I still drive an IH in the fall helping my buddy harvesting after school.

Now when i go back to work as a small engine mechanic this summer i'll make good money and i want to buy and old IH diesel.

How much do you think i could get one for if it was a fixer upper?
I want to restore one and take it to shows.

I would think you could get something for a couple thousand bucks no problem if you don't mind doing lots of work. Usually you'll get high mileage and a deteriorated cab, but if you gotta get it cheap, what the heck.

There's tons of older S series IH's (S-1700, S-1800, S-1900 S-2554, etc) out there with DT's in them.
I just read about a guy who found a 4700 series for ~$5,000 with a DT466.
Just don't bother with the 9L or DT360. They're durable, but not too powerful.

Anyway i'm a junior in HS and i am going to start saving for a truck to drive to collage. I'm gonna park the F150 and repaint it.

So far its either a F350 4x4 7.3 5spd or i want an old IH with a DT or a B61 Mack.

I have driven a 9L and when it ran it sucked

So what should i look for A pickup or a M/D
