I cant seem to keep enough coolant
in my radiator to cover the holes(
flumes maybe) pushes it out to the
over flow tank. Does not over heat at
allways sits around 2-210 mostly.
System will hold pressure for a
couple of days at least after i shut it
down. Done a 13lb leak test and it
held there and didnt move. Funny
thing is it dont draw the coolant
back in im assuming because of the
pressure it holds. Cracked the cap 2
days after i last drove it and let
pressure out. Edit: 88 7.3 na new
motorcraft t-stat and 13lb cap.

Are you gaining coolant? Any oily blobs floating around on top of your coolant? Any bubbles while running with the cap off?

13Lbs on the coolant side is nothing compared to combustion pressure...

Make sure there are no cracks in the hose that goes to the overflow tank, and make sure it's submerged in the fluid inside the tank. If there is no fluid in the tank, you might have to help it out by trying to get some in there. I am assuming you have one of the tanks that Ford glued the top on.

I dug the little plug out of one of my tanks so I could get fluid in it, and found a little plastic plug that slipped back in to cover the hole. If you are patient, you can also slowly overfill the radiator to the very top, and the fluid will slowly run down the tube into the tank. It takes some time, but you can get some in there that way also. Which brings up another point, you need to fill the radiator to the very top before you put the cap on, or the overflow tank won't work also.

fyi: the "flumes" are the tubes.they come up through the header.you put coolant into the filler neck which is connected to the top tank.
