Hey all, the connector that hooks up to the voltage regulator; is that a dealer part or can I get one at Advance or Napa? Or worse yet is it a junkyard item. Mine has gone through a meltdown literally over the years and it's not making good contact anymore. The batt light keeps coming on but if I wiggle the connector I can get the light to go out. I'd like to re-wire it with a new connector. Thanks.

I've gotten some connectors at parts stores, just ask. That particular connector is very common and was used for a long time in different applications, so you can likely get one.
If it comes to the wreckers, doesn't really have to be diesel, but you may have to fool with it so as not to have a live wire coming out of the connector.

Yes, it's in the Motormite catalog at Advance. If it's not in stock they can get it.

and eric--before you put the end to the vr--clean the terms on the vr with muratic acid--yep--takes rust right off them--and they get clean--and take some steel wool---fine grade--and polish even more--and NO!!!! dont use sandpaper--you loose almost all the contact surface--and take off the coating on the terminals--muratic can be bought anywhere--lowes and home depot included--use a q tip to apply

Ahh thanks all...looks like a trip to the store is in order! Glad it wasn't a trip to the boneyard! Have to try the acid idea; thanks!

Just found one in the latest LMC catalog. Part number 47-0903 for 3.95. Shipping will probably kill ya but you can always find some other stuff.
