For leaf spring front the arms are the same for 44 or 50. 50's have same wheel bearings and hubs as 60's. 50's have same axleshafts as 44's. A 50 also has a bigger ring gear and bearings. But housings will swap between a 44 and 50.
I know, a little scatterbrained.

pop the left door open and look at your axle code on the vehicle data sticker, its on the bottom and it will also tell you what springs and stuff you have as well as tire pressure and the VIN

Yeah I was thinking a Dana 44 Solid axle swap just for the simplicity of the axle being Solid. It would probably be about half the cost of a Dana 60 as well right? Are there any particular years of Dana 44's I should be looking for as far as strength and all that goes if I ever decide to look for one?

for the amount of money and time you spend looking for the right 44 youd be better off saving up a little more money and just getting a 60

you have a very nice truck from what i can tell, so why not save the extra money and do the job the right way and put a 60 on so you can have the utmost confidence in your vehicle. it seems like your a young kid like i am and your slowly upgrading your truck so why do the solid axle conversion twice

say you get a 44 for 500 bucks and spend 200 going through it (calipers brakes rotors bearings oil, brake hoses) then 5 years from now your in a good job and you have money to do the 60 so you buy one for 1000 and go through it for 200 bucks then you would have 2100 bucks tied up in axles
if you just spend the 1200 bucks for a nice 60 than youll be done with it

do you ever use 4x4 in your truck? if so what do you use it for?

i have seen a 44 conversion done but i just rolled my eyes and walked away

I mainly use my 4wheel drive in snow......I used it today to pull my dads work van out of a good foot of snow. I will use it to go on some mild 4x4 trails to go camping and what not. But I see what your saying, but that $500 breaks the bank for me, I can handle a good $700, but $1200 is a bit much for me to handle.

We'll see what happens, if I stumble on a cheap Dana 60 I'll jump on it.

i almost bought a 44 for my truck then i remembered my uncle has a jeep he goes rock crawling with its only got a 4 banger in it with 35's and he breaks them all the time so i highly doubt it would hold up to the 7.3 in any of our trucks
