Air Cleaner Ledge

Has anyone cut out the center ledge to the air cleaner, the part that restricts the airflow to the manifold, which is inside of the flange to manifold part? Does cutting this result in any bad problems.

you can cut it out, you may get a little more intake noise and hardly noticable power improvement. i cut mine out.

I beleive you are talking about the soup bowl. I ditched mine. Only difference is now it sounds like you're kicking in a 4 barrel carb once it gets to about 1700 RPM.

Beleive it's just a sound damper.

If you cut it out just grind off the approximatly 9 or 10 spot welds and it will come right out and you can easily weld it back in if you don't like it.
