93 pedal assembly install question

I finally started my E4OD to ZF 5 swap this afternoon. I managed to get the steering column out (With Calvin's help) even though I couldn't find any locking tab on it.. Anyway, I got the old brake pedal assembly out and have no idea how this new assembly can possibly fit in there.

It looks as thou the cast metal piece that holds up the steering column will be in the way. That piece has to be in there, or there will be nothing to hold the column.

What am I missing?

i'll post a pic of the 92-97 in a little bit when I get to the shop.
good news is you can sell that one since it's disco'd by furd and get the 92-97 at the parts counter.
