Something for you to chew on!
Take a good 7.3 block,sleve all 8 holes, with a very HD thick ,strong sleve. Deck the block and re bore to a std. 6.9 piston . This will get you a 6.9 that will most likely NOT have any cavation problems. Also that can stand up to a turbo because of the thicker walls on the cylinder and the bigger head bolts.

Now it sounds so far off I really don't remember much more than that... If you are doing the 7.3 sleeved to 6.9 don't let the shop glue in the sleeves. That acts as a barrier to heat transfer. Shrink fit them to a 2 thousands press....
