I have the opportunity to purchase a "new" 6.9 idi Vulcan rebuild sleeved - assembled block without injectors, ip, glow plugs, starter (these I can take off my existing truck).

Anyone have experience with these Vulcan rebuilds - good or bad?

Usually the 6.9 block never requires sleeving. Might check if it is an early A block thats prone to cracks near block heater. These early blocks also had press in piston cooling jets. They are not highly thought of. Personally I have no experience nor opinions on Vulcan engines but others may advise.

Seller says it's an '86. It's been in storage for a number of years - would that be an issue?

Best suggestion is look at the engine and get us the serial numbers. then we can tell you what year this engine is.
