6.9 return line

I installed new return lines when I rebuilt the engine about 15 years ago, am having trouble finding the cloth-covered hose to replace a leaking one. I have measured it as: 3/8" OD, 1/4" ID.

I got a kit from fleabay, all good but the hose, which is way too large OD. Have had no luck finding the replacement hose yet.

6.9 return lines use 3/16 id hose (about 5mm). 7.3 return lines use 1/4 id (about 7mm) Depends on which system you are working with. Either early 6.9 or later 7.3 return can be used but cannot mix the two. Most auto parts stores should have either size with 1/4 the most common. If you need 5mm they are common fuel line size on early air cooled VWs. The line probably won't be braided cloth covered but should still work. Most better return line kits come with Continental fuel line that is not braided cloth covered.
