Neighbor has an 89 4x4 that he said make him an offer on the transmission. It has the 5 spd, mine has t-19. Am I asking for trouble trying to put a 4x4 transmission in my 2wd? Also if anyone is looking for certain parts let me know and I'll look into getting them for you. The tach sensor and and tach are gone ;p.

No problem in putting a 4x4 trans with transfer case in a 2wd truck. You'll gain the low range of the transfer case if you take off with a heavy load in a hill, or parking a big trailer, no more clutch riding!

Yes, get the transfer case and the rear driveshaft and put it in your 2wd truck. You will appreciate the low range if you are trying to back up with a heavy load with the zf.

If you are thinking about converting the 4wd tranny to 2wd, it's not worth it and you would need parts and you would have to take the tranny apart. If you really want a 2wd zf, get the 4x4 zf and I am sure several people on this board would be willing to trade their 2wd zf for your 4x4 zf.

We put a C6 and t-case in our 2wd F350. It helps a lot when backing up trailers.

Not a problem; my 2wd has a ZF5 mated to an NP205.

Of course, the hope is to put a D60 in it someday.

before Russ derailed the thread, I was going to suggest if no transfer case, mount a F450 parking brake on the butt of the 4x4 trans.
In my house, if "NO" happens more than a 24 hr timespan.....I will go looking elsewhere.

You could get it and give it to a needing fella in MO who would be most gracious.

You already have a couple of swap offers, and transfer cases are not that expensive used, you have many to select from since even the broncos and f150's used the same type transfer cases and they bolt right on, just so long as you get the output shaft style correct and get the shifter linkage with it.
