had same issue with 97 f350 7.3 e4od some years back. blew out a few quarts throug seal after hauling load for couple hours on highway. had it towed home. did not pull trans or replace seal. replaced stock tiny oil cooler with 6.0 cooler ;larger iles; remote oil trans spinon filter ; larger oil pan with cooling tubes;and trans temp gauge; no problems since ; oil temp never gets above 140

I usually just bypass the tranny cooler in the radiator with an aftermarket super cooler but ive never tried a 6.0 cooler. That's a good idea.

I have both a 6.0 and a trucool 40k cooler on my trucks and both are the same with the exception the trucool keeps my Transmission a little cooler.

Out of curios. Why changing the tranny? If it gets to hot while towing it could a lot of reasons but why should the tranny be weak?
