1988 Chevy K3500 Convert to Cummins Power

Well, I decided to buy my buddy's truck and turn it into my hauler. It's a 1988 Chevy 3500, 4x4, auto with a 350. i'm going to pull the 350 (weak) and install an older all mechanical 5.9 Cummins. I've got most everything figured out for the swap. I'll start accumulating parts as soon as my 2000 F-150 sells http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...RK:MESE:IT&viewitem=&item=280107609542&rd=1,1 . I'm looking for a motor so if anyone has any leads let me know. If anyone has done this swap please feel free to chime in and give me any pointers on pitfalls or tips and tricks. It will be a low to medium budget project. I'll keep the TH400 and I've already found the motor mounts. So, wish me luck and I welcome any input.

go to www.towtalk.net. bill (aka skyforum) is the forum founder. he also is/was trying to convert a chevy 3500 series wrecker to a cummins diesel, not sure if it was originally a diesel or a gasser. last i knew he was trying to sell the whole thing as an unfinished project. he has posted some good pictures and descriptions in the past

find a old school bus and buy it, alot of them had 5.9's, you can get them as cheap as 1000 bucks or even less, a friend got one for 500, scrap the bus and you MAKE money plus you get a good running perfectly maintained engine.
