High pressure oil pump. Located under the fuel filter reservoir. It was the source of my oil leak. Not having experience doing them before resulted in a six to seven hour job. I am just a back yard mechanic with YouTube. The parts were cheap and in the end the leak was fixed. Beats the cost of...
On my 02 my leak in the rear was my hpop in the front of the motor. It leaked down the valley on top and right out the back.

Installed a 4 inch MBRP turbo back exhaust. What a great fit that is on the 7.3. One of the easiest jobs I have done on this truck.

So glad i took this project on. All the info i gained from this site and the web was priceless. Went smooth, thankfully. No leak and the engine is clean as can be for now.

It is just leaking and that is my plan. I have done a lot of reading on this and i see two sides. I just hope i do not have problems with the thred conditons after removing the plugs and fittings.

How many of you have had success with a rebuild. Some say once it leaks that it is done for good. I do not want to spend the money for a new pump now but I also do not want to spend it later. Rebuild or not.

2002 with 120,000 miles. Some say leave it alone. I have no trouble shifting or towing just like to do preventative work but time slipped by so just looking for some thoughts.

Not sure if you fixed your problem yet. I had a similar problem with mine. I only lost vac when i engaged 4x4 on dash. I thought the problem was with the hubs or lines to the hubs. Turns out that the valve itself had a small crack that only lost vac in 4x4. replaced entire valve and worked fine.
I read the post and replys. I have been leaning towards the modifier myself but just havent taken the time the work on it. I am definetely going to tear off cover and change fluid. Maybe its the sunlines. haha
Alright, I think I know where I am at with this but the input from the members on this site is always helpful. I first noticed vibration from the rear of the truck when turning left or right while towing my travel trailer from a stand still or slow roll. Now i am starting to notice it more...
I am not a fan of Walmart also, but at 11.50 for a 5qt container it makes a little easier to swallow. oil change for 34.50 plus 9.50 for filter sounds good.
Is There anything wrong with the motorcraft oil for the powerstrokes sold at walmart. I know synthetic is better but I havent taken the leap yet. I will someday.
If a glow plug relay is like any other contactor than the two small wires energize the coil and it would make no difference. Thats just an electrician talking not an auto mechanic.
I thought about using a vac but just not that way, besides my radiator does not have a cap. My overflow does maybe thats what you meant. I was just going to swap out quick with the heavy duty vac right there. Anyway I will check the continuity on the plug first, however it does not trip gfi...
Thanks John. I did try a different cord and still trips. Breaker is only 2 years old but I guess it could still be bad. I do have another breaker. I will swap it out and see.
When I plug the truck in It keeps tripping the ground fault breaker in the House. This just started happening. The circuit only trips when the truck is plugged in, nothing else on the breaker. So my question is, how easy is it to replace and what do ya think it will set me back.
I believe I have a bad hub lock solenoid. matter a fact it is cracked so I know it is bad. so when i relpace it I may still have auto hubs after all. Problem is it is a stealer part only. cant wait to see this price.
