I appreciate the answers. I am trying to get an idea how the Isuzu would occasionally tow around 10,000#. With a 4.555 rear end and the same size tires, I'm guessing just a little better than the idi. Time for the idi to become more of a rolling toolbox. It's not being put out to pasture by any...
I read the FAQ and it mentions the average idi non turbo numbers are 128.3HP and 241.55T if I understand it right. This is at the rear wheel. I am shopping for another work truck and have been considering the Isuzu cabovers. Their torque numbers seem to run higher than the idi. Is their numbers...
I am looking at a '87 International S1800 dump truck. It has a N/A 7.3 for the engine. The truck is also 4WD so no split rear end. The owner said the top speed for the truck is 55-60mph. The good sides seem to be the low miles at 31,000, no rust, and appears to be in excellent condition. My...
i have been running a '94 350 cclb in my signature. the engine isn't turbo'ed. Although it is running like a top now with new IP and lift pump and timing being reset i am thinking about another truck to take some of it's workload. I like the Isuzu cabovers and they seem to have similar HP and...
Carter County here. Can you still throw pennies at the store front windows in the Camden square to make the burglar alarms go off. I used to spend some time in Beaver Dam.
update, filled both tanks and truck is running smooth when not under load. tried towing around 5000# and it is noticibly down on power. looks like one of the pumps is definitly down a bit. same on both tanks. thanks for the help.
finally made it home this evening and added 5 gallons of diesel to the aft tank. it wasn't starting on either tank prior to adding diesel. with the 5 gals. added it fired right up on the back tank. thanks for the input.
you guys are amazing. my knowledge of diesels leans more to larger engines but i was thinking along the same lines as it getting airlocked. i have the batteries charging so i can check on it later this evening. the tanks are about 1/4 full. i may try to bring some diesel home to add and see if...
truck has been acting up on me a bit lately. '94 idi n/a 275,000 miles. the first time it acted up i heard the engine make a strange noise then parked it to go in a building. came out and it wouldn't start. i towed it to the shop where it started and idles fine twice. started driving the truck...
my F-350 has the smaller rear view mirrors, i would definitly go with larger ones to help with backing up. maybe a sticker somewhere to remind them it is a little wider than the small car they are used to.
I towed a backhoe and a few attachments back from central Fl. to Northest Tn. total trailer weight was around 14,000#. Interstate the whole way. the truck hauled the load but i never knew there were so many mountains in Florida. towing local speeds it does fine with the same combo, just a little...
i have a '94 idi dually. it is a double cab with 5 speed. the truck is in pretty good shape mechanically, body wise it has been a work truck but could easily look worse. just not a parade truck. i just took a 1600 mile round trip in it and it performed great. 4:10 rear end. it does have bucket...
being from nashville i have known many guys that went to NADC. the housing isn't in the best part of town but it's not the end of the world either. Nashville is a great city to spend a couple years in. I ran into a guy in SW Louisiana a couple weeks ago that was a graduate of NADC. 2 years out...
no egt gauge on the truck. blowby doesn't seem to be a problem. none was noticable. i'll probably take it by a mechanic and let them put some gauges to it and see what shape the engine is in. i have been hesitant so far to add a turbo or any upgrades due to the milage. thanks for the help.
i have a 94 F350 with the 5 speed and natural idi engine. i have been noticing when towing relatively light weight the truck slows on any hill. I am talking about towing a toro dingo weighing around 2500 and a attachment weighing around 800. this on a trailer that weighs 3000. this puts the...
i have towed a Bobcat B300 tlb with my 7.3. it does fine if i can stay in the lower gears but once i break around forty the east tn. hills win. it will go up them but very slowly. also i am relying heavily on the trailer brakes coming down mountains which lessens the warm fuzzy feeling more. the...
