Manual Fuel Shutoff lever conversion questions

Yes, it seems like it could be rebuilt. I bet I'm missing something, but a selenoid is just a coil of wire and a metal rod in the middle of the coil. When voltage is appilied, it pulls on the metal rod (electromagnet). Seems like they could just over heat from repeated use, or the coil wire...

    Water in Fuel sensor BUSTED

Just wanted to give anyone who has a similiar problem an update. I ended up making a new WIF sensor using a brass hydraulic fitting from the auto parts store. It is an adapter type fitting (for transmission lines I think) and the threads (1/2"x20) matched the old wif sensor exactly. I did...

    Water in Fuel sensor BUSTED

Mopar4less wants $90+ for WIF sensor. Come on guys, give me some names and numbers of Cummins parts suppliers you have used in the past with good luck. I wish I had the fuel filter setup like the 1996's, seems to be a simple foolproof design. The set up for the 97-99 is over engineered in my...

    Water in Fuel sensor BUSTED

Muddy, your right, 97-99 is the same part. I just can't believe the part is discontinued. Does anybody have some names or numbers of Cummins/Fleetgaurd parts suppliers that they have had good experiences with? Not sure if I am getting bullshitted by a parts guy who does not feel like doing his...

    Water in Fuel sensor BUSTED

Just a little update, Genos does not carry the WIF sensor for the 1997 (or at least it's not listed on their website). So called Cummins and was told it was cross referenced to a fleetgaurd part. "Will take about a week to get". Well, got a call today from Cummins dealer and he said "part no...

    rear diff temp gauge

For you auto tranny guys, if you have a trans temp gauge, then just get a second sending unit for it, then install it in the diff. Now all you need is a switch to go back and forth from tranny temp to diff temp. The diff is a nice thing to monitor, but the temps fluctuate more gradually. So...

REALLY nice add-on for those that change their oil

Hey, I just ordered a finger touch from Genos. I guess I should have read this thread first. Oh well, I'm sure it will be fine. The reason I got it was I am tired of having to change the rubber washer at every oil change or else I get a little drip. So I figure I well install the finger touch...

    auto on 94

If your brother wants to try a get every last mile out of the tranny, then I would go mild. Sounds like he does not even need the 300 hp. My 97 is pretty much stock (plate moved a little forward), and it pulls my 6500 lb 5th wheel well. It ain't gonna win any races when empty, but will keep up...

    Water in Fuel sensor BUSTED

Thanks for the reply and the offer. Yes I called a few places, either closed or no part. Heres what I ended up doing: I took the housing to the reg. auto parts store and found that a 1/2"x20tpi oil drain plug (and fiber washer) fit perfectly. Cost: $2.50, and I even got the one with the...

    Water in fuel sensor BUSTED!!!

Thanks for the replies. Got it fixed. I took the housing to the auto parts store and found that a 1/2"x20tpi oil drain plug (and fiber washer) fit perfectly. Cost: $2.50, and I even got the one with the magnet in it. I heard it supposed to make the truck run faster and jump higher or...

    Water in Fuel sensor BUSTED

Water in Fuel sensor FIXED! I posted in 911 diesel down, but posting again here for miaximum exposure, Thanks. Was changing out the fuel filter today on the dodge. The freakin WIF sensor was a little loose, so you guessed it! SNAP!! Cummins part store is closed today. I have to have the...

    Water in fuel sensor BUSTED!!!

Was changing out the fuel filter today on the dodge. The freakin WIF sensor was a little loose, so you guessed it! SNAP!! Cummins part store is closed today. I have to have the truck for work in the AM. I found an old radiator petcock (plastic) that threaded in nicely, but it leaks under...

    Cold Weather Experiment

Thanks Kevin, I did remove and replace the fluid twice using a turkey baster type device. Removed and refilled with valvolene semi-synthetic, then drove for about a week, then did it again. I guess I need to use the full synthetic stuff, but have not found it yet. Also heard of an additive...

    I found this......

Don't take anybodies word for it either on the belt. Unless they can produce a receipt, and you look at the belt, there is no freakin way I would take there word for it. Problem is, if the belt snaps, then the engine is toast. Your talking new head, valves, piston, bent conn. rods, the works...

    Cold Weather Experiment

I knew the temp was gonna drop pretty low last night (forecast of 4 degrees F. without wind chill), so I decided to leave the truck out all night, not plugged in. This is my first winter with this truck (and I think it is the first winter for the truck itself-came from georgia/alabama border)...

    Shocks?

I have the Bilstiens and they do the job just fine. I don't have any expierience with the others, but I think I would drive myself crazy constantly adjusting the ranchos. Can't leave that stuff alone. The bilstiens keep things solid but not to firm, no front to back rocking, and turns feel...

    New member, New Question

Funny you mentioned synthetic oil, cause after the past few very cold days, I've been thinking about it. Especially with the 12.88 a gallon price of the rotella t 5w-40 at wallmart. I have heard that the valvolene blue is sold at the cummins dealers for a decent price, but you gotta buy 5...

    I found this......

Sounds like a pretty good deal for 10,000, still consider it for 11,000. The auto will still get you around 40 to 45 mpg on highway depending upon your inj. pump timing. They like to be a little advanced also. Check out if the timing belt was changed. If not, that will have to be done asap...

    New member, New Question

Yes I will, gonna wait till warranty is up first. Got the extended warranty in the purchase price deal back when bought it new. Still, for a 4 banger, it's fun to drive. Gotta like 45 mpg too. And thats for the auto trans, hell the manual gets in the 50's mpg. Gotta laugh everytime I get...

    Which oil?

I like Mobil 1 delvac when I can find it, Shell rotella T synthetic when I can't and only at the 12.88 price at wal-mart. I will not pay the 18.88 price for rotella t. For that price, I'll buy delvac mobil 1. Some say the intake will stay cleaner with the delvac, but hard to tell if you use...

Glad to hear. This is my first dodge diesel, I have (wifes car) a Jetta diesel, but that thing is so efficient I don't get any smoke! Well at least a little black when I get on it ;) . I usually let the dodge warm up for a few minutes, but this eve I started it up, waited for about one...

Just thought I would say hello, nice site, nice lay out. I like the fact that this site has resources for the "other" brands of trucks as well. Was told about this site from another member of a "Dodge only" website. I see some familiar names being listed. Well, glad to meet you all, I'm sure...
