    pretty much the same thing i was getting at just not as text book lol. if you take the filter off and fuel doesnt flood all over the place then it does reveal useful infomation it means you have a air leak. i dont guess i follow the whole when its plugged in thing that it extends the air leak...

    im just trying to rule out the gp's as a posible culprit. these engines rely soo much on the gp's when its cold or hot temps outside, more so in the cooler temps. my 85 it can be 70+* outside on a cold motor and if you dont use the gp's too start it, it will spin forever before it starts if it...

    run the truck let it sit over night then in the morning unscrew the fuel filter off and see how much fuel is in the filter, this is determining if you still have a possible air leak. if the truck is starting fine with the block heater plugged in and not so great with it not plugged in relying...

    yes same thing happened to me and the inside of my truck still smells like antifreeze. the way i knew it was a heater coil was by the water vapor that would accumulate on the front glass next to the dash.

    Sometimes they burn up when you don't pull the battery cables (either +or -) when you try to replace them... and they will shock the snot out of you too, thats what mine did.
