It was 1 degree yesterday so it’s todays project! It’s a square edge o-ring like these. https://www.mcmaster.com/o-rings/cross-section-shape~square/
I have decided to just make the switch to the NAPA gold WIX filter that eliminates the bowl. That bowl also has a schrader valve on it that...
Well that’s weird. “CalIDI” right above you can see it. Are you on mobile maybe? Not that it should matter. Not sure, sorry about that. She’s a 1993 F350 with a 7.3L non turbo IDI with a ZF5.
I tore it apart and yeah it’s inside. It’s inset on the retaining nut which screws to the other end of the stem of the brass draincock. As you screw counterclockwise it lowers itself against the inside of the sediment bowl to make the seal.
I can see my signature line, is it not showing up...
Are you me? Im outside now working on the water separator bowl - it's 30 but going to 20 below tonight and a high of 9 tomorrow. I work in either the snow and freezing temps in the winter or ankle deep mud in the summer. Not sure which I hate more. I know one thing, my truck wouldn't have...
No, it definitely could be but I feel like the gauge on the truck is lower than it was last winter making me think it’s the thermostat. It’s only a the factory gauge which is almost worthless but I’ll block off the radiator to see if I can get the gauge to move at all and some heat in the cab...
I still have the OEM screw on bowl. Thing is leaking a heavy drip about every 5 seconds. I can only assume that it’s dripping right out of the middle and not running down to there and then dripping. I don’t have the tube hooked up anymore so perhaps that has something to do with it too? Now...
Okay found it, it’s at the separator, the little brass drain nut. Appears to be dripping right from the center of that. The drain hose has been discontinued so it’s just the nut there. Isn’t there an o ring in that nut? I can’t quite remember.
I have practically no heat and I assume that is because the thermostat is stuck open. Replacing it seems like a bit of a job and my thought was that perhaps there was an aftermarket option that mounts in between the hose and the housing, or at the very top of the housing? Hoping for something...
I am getting a really bad unspent fuel smell when the heat is blowing. It seems unnoticeable without the heat though. I haven't started digging for leaks but I have done a quick visual and didn't see anything obvious. Where should I start?
Thanks!
Hey welcome! I want to say most importantly, thank you for being part of the resistance to medical fascism. It’s the issue of our lifetime. We were preparing to lose everything once the mandates rolled out earlier this year. We were prepared to lose our home and live on the road if that’s...
Unreal. I order parts from eBay at least once a month for all our various on and off road machines - but once I didn’t see it on rock auto and then someone mentioned that bronco graveyard I didn’t even have it on my mind to look there. Well I’ve glued it back together with some epoxy for now so...
Yes, thank you. That’s the piece. And oh fantastic only $105……. I’d go to a junkyard but I can only imagine that many of these have the same problems as mine with the brittleness. I suppose I could try some fiberglass or epoxy repair but I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle and the price I’d be...
So while trying to replace the headlights I’ve discovered that the plastic piece cowl? they mount to (the large plastic assembly that spans the entire front of the truck) is all broken to bits. I don’t see it on rock auto or google. Does anyone know where to order one of these? Thanks!
Does this system maintain a state of pressure like a hydraulic system used for articulation and consisting of cylinders and supporting weight and such? Or does it cease beyond the shutoff of the engine and injection pump? Is the prime that the fuel system holds under any amount of pressure or...
Do you have a water separator bowl on the bottom of your filter now? If so you can keep that and get a filter that will have a regular opening at the top like you’d expect and then a large opening on the bottom that your bowl will screw on to.
You can keep this setup or get one of the filters...
Sorry, I wasn't getting my notifications. Is there a benefit of having that water sensor if I am going to be pretty vigilant about changing the filter? What are the odds that it even still works? If I do decide on the delete, what do I need to cap off or otherwise do to make it happen...
Sorry, I am not getting my notifications for some reason. I just meant that the dirt and mud would gum up the housing and outside of the filters. Probably wouldn't be too difficult to squirt down before changing the filters though.
What is the benefit to that filter head that you linked...
