Heater core out again
They leak coolant all over the carpet on the passenger side. And the windshield proceeds to get covered in steam. Its a new radiator cap with a new radiator. The cap is 13 psi right? Or maybe 7. Heater core out again
I have looked for some threads on this but couldn’t find any. I have an 89 7.3. About 5 years ago my factory heater core went out. I have since replaced it with at least 3 other aftermarket heater cores. Every 18 months or so they seem to go out again. Does anyone know of a solution or the right...- Cole Roberts

It is not loud in the mornings. And I haven’t checked the resistance when hot vs cold. I liked the thread that 79jasper posted about adjusting the bend in the coil to try and get it to click on sooner. I will most likely try that in the near future. Just in case anyone is curious or anyone else reads this thread; I ended up pulling the radiator to get it boiled and pressure tested and they told me at the radiator shop that the radiator was no good. Update for you guys, I replaced my fan clutch with a Napa one like stated earlier, I still don’t hear the fan on cold start nor when it gets hot. I got it up to about 240 towing heavy the other day and it didn’t click on. I replaced it with a Hayden fan clutch today but it still didn’t turn on...- Cole Roberts

What fan clutch would you guys recommend running? I’m thinking about replacing this Napa one since I haven’t heard it turn on at all. I was towing on the freeway yesterday and the truck climbed to about 215 degrees and I still didn’t hear the fan.- Cole Roberts

I did not hear the fan on cold start nor while running it on the freeway. I only have a downpipe for exhaust currently so I figured maybe I didn’t hear it I was concerned I couldn’t hear it, but I towed about 5,000 on the freeway for 30 miles and it stayed cool at 190. Replaced the fan clutch, drove it hard on the freeway yesterday, no load, but it was a hot day and it stayed nice and cool. About 190 degrees I’ll hopefully pull a trailer today and really put it to the test. Thanks for all your help!- Cole Roberts

Thanks for your replies fellas. I will check tomorrow for oily dirt on the spring. I would be okay with buying a new one. Any recommendations on what brand of one to buy? I hear some people have had troubles with the aftermarket ones they have bought.- Cole Roberts
